Understanding the Supertrend Sell Signal scan
The Supertrend sell signal fires when price closes below a rising Supertrend line, flipping the indicator from bullish to bearish — the ATR-based trailing support that held the uptrend has been broken, and the line relocates above price as resistance. This screener lists every stock printing that bearish flip on the most recent completed daily candle.
For holders, the flip is a mechanical risk-management event: it is exactly where a Supertrend-based system exits longs, regardless of narrative. Because the line trails at an ATR-scaled distance, a flip means price has fallen further than normal volatility can explain — a statistically abnormal break of the trend's rhythm rather than ordinary noise. That property makes the daily-timeframe sell list a fast portfolio-review queue after any weak session.
For short-side traders, flips are candidate entries with a built-in invalidation (the new overhead line), best filtered by context: breaks of major support, high-volume declines and weak market regimes improve follow-through dramatically. As with the buy side, flips inside sideways ranges reverse frequently — the whipsaw tax every trend-following tool pays.
How to use this scan
- Audit holdings against this list after weak sessions — a flip on a stock you own is a defined risk-review trigger.
- For shorts, use the new Supertrend line above price as the natural stop reference.
- Weight flips that coincide with support breaks or heavy volume far above solo flips.
- Filter by ADX or market regime to avoid range-bound whipsaw flips.
- Watch for quick reclaims: price closing back above the line within days negates the signal.
Risks & limitations
Bearish flips in choppy markets reverse constantly, and mechanically shorting every signal without regime filters bleeds capital through whipsaws. No single indicator condition is a trade recommendation. Screener output is a starting shortlist, not a buy or sell call — it ignores fundamentals, news, earnings dates, promoter actions and your personal risk profile. Results are computed on completed candles from historical NSE data, so intraday moves after the last update are not reflected. Always confirm on the chart, size positions conservatively and use stop-losses.
