FAQs
What are the major European stock market indices?
The headline European benchmarks are the UK's FTSE 100, Germany's DAX, France's CAC 40 and the pan-eurozone Euro Stoxx 50. Beyond those, Switzerland's SMI, Spain's IBEX 35, Italy's FTSE MIB, the Netherlands' AEX and Sweden's OMX Stockholm 30 round out the region's most-watched indices.
What time do European stock markets open in IST?
London (FTSE 100) trades 08:00–16:30 UK time, which is 12:30–21:00 IST during British Summer Time (13:30–22:00 IST in winter). Frankfurt, Paris, Zurich, Madrid, Milan and Amsterdam trade 09:00–17:30 Central European Time — 12:30–21:00 IST in summer (13:30–22:00 IST in winter). European markets therefore overlap with the final hours of the Indian session and the US pre-market.
Why do European markets matter for Indian and US investors?
Europe opens after Asia closes and before New York wakes up, making it the middle leg of the global trading day. Big moves in the DAX or FTSE 100 often set the tone for the US open, and European risk sentiment frequently feeds into how the Indian market closes. The FTSE 100 is also heavily weighted to global miners and energy majors, making it a useful commodity-sentiment proxy.
Are European market prices on LiveWorldMarket real-time or delayed?
Prices are refreshed continuously from Yahoo Finance and TradingView. European index quotes can be delayed by up to 15 minutes depending on each exchange's redistribution rules. Every figure carries a last-updated timestamp and stale values are flagged.
