About XAU / USD

XAU/USD is the spot price of gold quoted in US dollars per troy ounce, discovered continuously in the over-the-counter market between banks and dealers rather than on a single exchange. Spot differs from futures by carrying costs (interest and storage), which is why the two prices track each other closely but not identically. It is the reference rate for jewellers, ETFs and central banks worldwide.

Trading Hours

How to Read XAU / USD

Market participants often monitor XAU / USD alongside the US dollar index — a stronger dollar can sometimes coincide with weaker dollar-priced commodities. The 52-week range frames how extreme current prices are versus the past year, and moving averages define the medium-term trend. Inventory reports and supply news create the sharpest single-day moves.

52-week range: 3,366 – 5,586.2. Trailing 12-month change: 37.06%.
