Week 9: No-Code Automation or Basic Python
Week 9: Learn No-Code Automation or Basic Python
Choose one learning route based on your requirements. Both are legitimate — the goal is to implement the strategy you designed in Weeks 3-4.
No-code route
Explore how to create entry and exit conditions, select instruments, configure stop-loss and targets, run a backtest, start a paper deployment, connect a supported broker and review execution logs. Platforms available to Indian traders include Streak, Tradetron, AlgoTest and QuantMan. Features, costs, supported brokers and exchange-related status change, so verify directly before subscribing.
Python route
Focus on:
- Variables, lists and dictionaries
- Conditional statements, loops and functions
- Date and time handling
- Pandas DataFrames, reading CSV or JSON data
- Calling an API, error handling and creating log files
Your first Python project can simply read historical candles, calculate two moving averages and print a signal. It does not need to place an order.
Choosing between the routes
- Choose no-code if you are new to programming, your rules use common indicators, and you mainly want backtesting and paper trading.
- Choose broker API + Python if you need custom calculations, full control over position sizing, and can maintain and monitor software.
- Choose an options-focused platform (e.g. AlgoTest) if your strategy uses multiple option legs and expiry-wise historical testing.
Week 9 outcome
You should be able to implement your strategy on a selected platform or generate its signals through basic code.
This lesson is for educational purposes only. It is not investment advice, a recommendation or an assurance of returns. Trading and derivatives involve substantial risk, and backtested or paper-trading results do not guarantee future performance.
